Senior photos can feel intimidating if you don’t know what to expect. From choosing the right session to knowing what happens after your images are delivered, this post walks through the entire senior photo experience step by step so you can feel confident and prepared before you ever step in front of the camera.

Booking Your Session

Once you’re ready to move forward, booking your session is simple. I use a self-booking platform to keep the process streamlined and easy, allowing you to choose the session type that fits your needs, reserve your date, and complete the initial booking details online. This secures your spot on my calendar and officially kicks off the planning process.

If you’re unsure which session option is the best fit or don’t see availability that works with your schedule, you’re always welcome to reach out before booking. While my availability is primarily limited to the dates listed on my calendar, there are times when I’m able to work a little scheduling magic.

Planning and Preparation

During booking, you’ll complete a short questionnaire that helps me learn more about your senior. This is where you can share any location ideas, let me know if you’d like guidance with location selection, and mention the overall vibe or style you’re hoping for. While a specific vision isn’t required, these details are always helpful.

This is also a great place to note any props you’d like to incorporate, interest in sports photos (such as gym or field locations), or anything else that feels important to your session. If there are physical limitations, sensory concerns, or other considerations I should be aware of, sharing those details upfront allows me to plan a session that feels comfortable and supportive.

You’ll also receive a senior prep guide after booking that covers everything from outfit planning to what to expect on session day. The goal is to eliminate guesswork so you arrive feeling relaxed and ready.

Session Day

On the day of your session, you don’t need to worry about knowing how to pose or what to do. I guide you through the entire process so everything feels natural and comfortable.

Sessions are structured but relaxed. We’ll move at a pace that allows for genuine expressions, variety, and confidence without feeling rushed or awkward. Seniors are encouraged to be themselves, not perform for the camera.

During the Session

Throughout the session, I’ll offer direction while leaving room for personality to come through. We’ll adjust poses, locations, and pacing as needed to make sure the final images feel authentic and polished.

Outfit changes are expected and encouraged. While there’s no set limit on outfits, two tends to be the sweet spot for one-hour sessions and around four works well for two-hour sessions. Layering is also a great way to create variety without a full outfit change. Adding a sweater, jacket, hat, or different jewelry can give you multiple looks with minimal effort.

Image Selection and Editing

After your session, I carefully select and edit the strongest images. Editing focuses on natural skin tones, clean color, and a timeless look that reflects my portfolio.

Unedited images are not delivered. Each image you receive is fully edited with consistency and care so your gallery feels cohesive and complete.

Gallery Delivery

Your final images are delivered through a private online gallery within the stated turnaround timeframe. Depending on your session type, galleries may include all images or allow you to select your favorites from a larger set.

Galleries are easy to download, share, and use. Professional print ordering is available directly through your gallery for those who want high-quality prints without the hassle of sourcing a lab on their own.

Printing and Sharing

You’re welcome to print and share your images however you’d like. While printing through your own vendor is allowed, image quality can only be guaranteed when prints are ordered through the professional lab linked in your gallery.

Your gallery files are fully suited for yearbooks, announcements, graduation materials, and personal use. If you choose to share your images on social media, tagging me is always appreciated. And if you loved working together, a Google review is one of the best ways to support my small business and is truly appreciated.

Final Thoughts

Senior photos don’t need to be stressful or uncomfortable. With clear communication, thoughtful planning, and guidance throughout the process, your session can feel relaxed and genuinely enjoyable.

If you’re ready to book or still have questions, you can explore session options or reach out anytime. I’m always happy to help you decide what feels right.
